Kenzie and her Mom Brenda came to Skopelos on holidays. Brenda wanted to wanted to give her daughter  a photoshoot as a present in different locations on the island. We shoot in Skopelos town and in Amarandos one of the places where MAMMA MIA! was filmed. Brenda did some “backstage” photos. Thank you Brenda.

Η Νανσυ και  ο Κωστας παντρευτηκαν το καλοκαιρι στη Σκοπελο. Με καταγωγη απο αυτο το πανεμορφο νησι ο Κωστας και απο Χαλκιδικη η Νανσυ ενωσαν τις ζωες τους στη “Παναγιτσα του Πυργου” την γραφικη αυτη εκκλησια στην ακρη του λιμανιου.

On the 3rd of September I was shooting a wedding on Mykonos and on the 5th I travelled to Skiathos to cover the wedding of Simon & Phaedra. A very creative and deeply in love couple.Simon is English and Phaedra Greek – English. They were married in Skiathos Princess Hotel and their reception was held at the same hotel by the beach.

Ο γαμος του Σαιμον και της Φαιδρας στη Σκιαθο

Στις 3 Σεπτεμβρίου φωτογράφιζα ένα γάμο στη Μύκονο και στις 5 ταξίδεψα μέχρι την Σκιάθο για να φωτογραφήσω το γάμο του Σάιμον και της Φαίδρας. Ο γάμος τους έγινε στον χώρο του ξενοδοχείου Skiathos Princess. Ο Σάιμον είναι από την Αγγλία η Φαίδρα από μητέρα Ελληνίδα και πατέρα από το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο.

Η Κωνσταντίνα είναι από Αλόννησο και την γνώριζα αφού είχα φωτογραφήσει και τον γάμο της αδερφής της πριν πέντε χρόνια. Ο Λευτέρης «βέρος» Σαντορινιός τον γνώρισα το Πάσχα όταν βρεθήκαμε να μιλήσουμε για το γάμο τους στη Σαντορίνη. Το καλοκαίρι που μας πέρασε επισκέφτηκα την Σαντορίνη αρκετές φορές για δουλειά και η βοήθεια του Λευτέρη ήταν ανεκτίμητη. Σας ευχαριστώ που μου κάνατε την τιμή να κοντά σας  αυτή τη σημαντική μέρα της ζωής σας. Θα τα πούμε και από κοντά στο γάμο της αδερφής της Κωνσταντίνας.

Η δεξίωση έγινε στη λίμνη Βουλιαγμένης και την οργάνωση και διακόσμηση του γάμου είχε αναλάβει η εταιρία Mona Lisa. Ακολουθούν κάποιες αγαπημένες φωτογραφίες.

Greece. The weather forecast is rain, and the taxi driver who picks me up from my hotel also says the weather will be bad today. Looking out of the car window as we pass the stunning views of the caldera from Fira to Oia though, I can only detect blue skies – it is going to be a glorious day!

Last week I got a call from a dutch woman, Ellen Honert, a jazz singer and songwriter. She is visiting Santorini for a vacation and wants to use the opportunity to take photo’s for the cover of her new CD.

Upon my arrival in Oia, she is already waiting for me – she also got up with the first rays of light. Ellen has a CD out, “Breath of the Soul”, a great album that was recorded in California, where she lived and worked for 7 years. Now she has recently finished her second album, and it is for this one we are doing the photo session today.

We slowly start our climb through narrow streets into the picturesque old town of Oia. Only followed by a sleepy dog at this hour, the town is rarely quiet – serene silence before tourists will overtake the streets. It is no surprise it gets busy during the day and evening here- the views and sunsets are so incredible, that they can put poets out of work!

But at this early hour there is plenty of opportunity for us to get to work. We start with close-ups and as the sun moves up higher into the skies I make photos from further away.

We didn’t discuss any photo locations in advance, we just explore the village and choose locations as we go. This is my favorite way of working: walking around and suddenly seeing a good spot for a photo. As we sit down for a late breakfast I notice a white staircase against a big white wall and know immediately it will make for a great frame. Some of my favorite photos of the day are made right there!
