As I already had plans to be on Santorini on the 18th of May for the shooting of Helen Honert’s new cd cover, I received an e-mail from Kari and Humberto. Their wedding was to be held on Santorini the same day with Helen’s shooting. They told me that it was during the afternoon that they needed  my services.  I love shooting weddings on Santorini, so I took the chance.

Humberto and Kari are a lovely couple from Texas and  I really enjoyed taking pictures around Oia. It was a bit cloudy early in the afternoon and the light was perfect for portraits, as it was like using a huge soft box. The cloudy weather didn’t help for some sunset shots, although they are a “trademark” of Santorini, but finally luck was with our side. Around 19:30 the clouds spread and the sky started getting a beautiful orange hue by the warm and soft sun light, which the sunset of Oia gives before the Sun submerges in the Aegean sea.

A golden reflector in my Canon speed light helped me to have a nice color balance between the ambient and the flash light.

Γαμος στη Σαντορινη

Στο Filofax το πρόγραμμα μου έλεγε 18 Μαΐου Σαντορίνη – φωτογράφηση της Helen Honert για το εξώφυλλο και την προώθηση του νέου της CD.Το e-mail της Kari και του Humberto για την φωτογράφηση του γάμου τους με βρήκε να προσπαθώ να χωρέσω ένα ούτε καν 24ωρο στη Σαντορίνη στο ήδη σφιχτό πρόγραμμα μου, αφού στις 20 Μαΐου  θα έπρεπε να φωτογραφίζω στη Σκιάθο. Φτάνω στο αεροδρόμιο των Φηρών στις 06:30 το πρωί, ταξί για το ξενοδοχείο και στις 08:00  βρίσκομαι στο ραντεβού μου με την Helen στην Οία. Τελειώνουμε τη φωτογράφηση γύρω στης 11:00 και επιστρέφω στο ξενοδοχείο.

15:00 το απόγευμα βρίσκομαι και πάλι στην Οια. Συναντώ την Kari και τον Humberto στο ξενοδοχείο τους. Είναι από το Texas και έχουν ενθουσιαστεί που βρίσκονται στην Ελλάδα. Είναι ένα πολύ ταιριαστό και ερωτευμένο ζευγάρι. Συζητάμε λίγο για τη φωτογράφηση και βλέπω να δημιουργείται μια πολύ καλή χημεία μεταξύ μας. Αυτό είναι ένα από τα βασικότερα συστατικά για μια επιτυχημένη φωτογράφηση γάμου. Το ίδιο βράδυ στις 00:30 αναχώρησα για Πειραιά με το Blue star 2 ενθουσιασμένος και ικανοποιημένος, αφού είχα μια πολύ δημιουργική ημέρα, έκανα όμορφες εικόνες και γνώρισα τρεις εκπληκτικούς ανθρώπους.
