Pre wedding photo session in Rethymnon Crete
Apart from Chania, Rethymno constitues one of the most picturesque cities in Crete. The narrow cobbled streets, the charming houses, the wonderful old port, the Venetian monuments (with the best-known being “Fortezza”, the massive Venetian fortress) as well as the minarets add to the venetian and oriental touch of this special city. I have also shot weddings in Heraklion and Elounda and I could say that the whole island of Crete is an amazing wedding destination.
While in Rethymnon the couple stayed in Civitas, a beautiful hotel with hospitable stuff and a lovely view to the beach. Aleksey and Lilia are not a traditional couple, so they didn’t adhere to the tradition that the groom should not see the bride wearing the wedding dress before the wedding. The photographs below are part of the pre-wedding photoshoot of the couple in Rethymnon.
The photosession took place at Fortezza, a very popular location for wedding ceremonies, at the old port as well as in the old city of Rethymnon. Afterwards, the couple dined in an elegant restaurant, where they lit some sky lanterns for good luck and if I may judge by the fact that the lanterns went so high that they were lost in the night sky, Aleksey and Lilia will have the best of luck in their lives! In the next post the couple’s wedding on the amazing Santorini island will follow.
