I was truly excited when Mer Culture – a company for women swimwear – asked me to shoot for their new swimsuit campaign in Cappadocia. For this specific company I would photoshoot in Santorini as well however, the idea of doing a swimsuit photoshoot in Cappadocia with its unique landscape was more than exciting. Especially when I was told that I would get to work with former Miss Turkey, Begüm Yılmaz.
In fact this region in the center of Turkey shares many common features with Santorini, such as being carved out of volcanic eruptions, having cave houses and unusual rock formations. The volcanic rocks were eroded by strong winds and created conic shaped formations called fairy Chimneys, thus providing a wonderful backdrop for our photo session in Cappadocia.
I hopped on the morning flight from Santorini to Athens and then to Istanbul. The final part of my trip was flying from Istanbul to exotic Nevsehir. At the airport I met with my driver and right away we left for our destination, the city of Goreme. We had to be able to capture the evening light since my staying in Cappadocia would last solely 24 hours hence I had to begin photoshooting right away. My beautiful model Begüm had already started to get ready when I was taking off from Istanbul. The next morning we woke up before sunrise and before I time came when I had to take the next three fights for my way home, we had already finished.
Finally, I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart Mr Nuri Buğra Başgül, owner of the incredible Göreme Konak Hotel & Cave Suites for his overwhelming hospitality and for the precious help he provided while I stayed in Goreme and during our wonderful photoshoot.
