Nick and Erin are two California sweethearts whose wedding at Santorini Gem I had the pleasure to shoot last October. They met ten years ago in Huntington Beach through mutual friends and family and during the Christmas holidays of 2014 Nick popped the question at Tower Bridge in London. Erin could not get her glove off fast enough to accept his proposal!
They decided that they didn’t want their wedding to be only a great one-day fete but rather an entire wedding trip experience with their closest family and friends. And this was the best decision according to the couple. Choosing Greece and Santorini in particular for a destination wedding was an easy choice given Nick’s Greek heritage. Although at first they were apprehensive about organising a wedding from afar via email, they got in touch with the team of Divine Weddings and they immediately felt at ease. Their wedding at Santorini Gem was indeed a dream come true!
Surrounded by beautiful gardens Santorini Gem wedding venue is located on the caldera cliff close to Pyrgos village in a 5000sqm estate where a large villa and a restaurant are also situated. Pyrgos, a typical Cycladic Fortress Settlement, is a hillside village at the highest point of Santorini with panoramic views of the whole island. The couple decided to have their wedding at Santorini Gem because of its magnificent caldera views and its simple, traditional Grecian ambiance. Inspired by the colors of the island and the Aegean Sea, the decor was simple and elegant with mostly white and olive tones and a touch of slate with blue hues. Erin was amazing in her Berta Bridal wedding dress with its impressive illusion back, while Nick was also a very stylish groom.
The night was filled with love and laughter, the savoury tastes of local favourites, traditional Greek dancers to entertain and fireworks lighting the sky announcing the newly married. Nick and Erin describe this day as “nothing short of absolute bliss and serenity”.
