I met Dana and Niko while they were organising their destination wedding in Santorini. From our very first email communication I felt strong bond between us which developed into a friendship that lasted even after their wedding in Santorini needed to be cancelled due to a family tragedy. So when I received Niko’s message asking if I wanted to shoot their wedding in New York, I was more than happy and excited and of course I said yes. This was a going to be a surprise for Dana and both me and Niko didn’t say anything to her.
Dana and Niko’s wedding in New York was a great opportunity for me to visit one of my favourite cities where many friends and couples whose weddings I shot live. Of course there are many reasons for someone to love New York, but what I enjoy the most in the bustling metropolis is its iconic skyline, the multicultural nature of its society, the creativity in the air and the fact that it’s a true Arts capital. From a photography perspective I always found the light reflections on the glass windows of skyscrapers to create very interesting lighting conditions. And given my obsession with lighting in my photos, this was something that I wanted to take advantage of in Dana and Nikos’ wedding photos.
The wedding started with the preparation photos of the bride and groom in Nomo Soho Hotel. Dana looked stunning in her Julie Vino wedding dress. The wedding ceremony took place in Brooklyn and the reception in lower Manhattan. This was an intimate and very emotional wedding and I really enjoyed the time I spent with the couple and their family and guests. Finally I’d like to thank Lauren Kokkinelis from Beautiful and Blessed Events for her assistance. Her help was invaluable in coordinating Dana and Niko’s wedding in New York. I literally cannot wait to be back!
